Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these terms
By joining the waitlist, creating an account, or using Collab Planet in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Collab Planet. We don't currently verify age at signup, but by using the service you're confirming that you meet this requirement.
3. Beta access and the beta-first experience
Collab Planet is currently offered as a closed, invitation-gated beta. This means, concretely, today:
- Access starts with a waitlist. Joining the waitlist reserves your place — it does not guarantee approval or a specific approval date.
- Approved users must accept a Beta Agreement inside the app before gaining full access.
- Beta access is granted at Collab Planet's discretion, and may be paused, delayed, or withdrawn while the product is in beta.
- The beta is provided "as is," under active development. Features, design, and functionality may change, break, or be removed without notice during this period, and we do not guarantee uptime, data permanence, or feature stability during beta. We'll aim to communicate major changes, but the beta nature of the product means things can and will change quickly.
4. Your account
- You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and choosing a username.
- You can delete or freeze your account at any time from Settings.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe another person's rights.
- Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that violates someone else's intellectual property.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account, private project, or to the platform's administrative functions.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security or rate-limiting of the service (including the waitlist and authentication systems).
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users through public posts, project chat, or direct messages.
Violation of this section may result in content removal, account suspension/freeze, or termination, consistent with Section 9.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create and upload to Collab Planet — your projects, files, versions, comments, messages, and public posts. By submitting content to the service, you grant Collab Planet the license necessary to store, process, transmit, and display that content as needed to operate the features you use (for example, showing your public project preview to visitors, or delivering your project chat to your collaborators). This license is limited to operating the features you use — it doesn't give Collab Planet any right to use your content for its own promotional purposes, such as marketing or social media, without your separate permission.
Content you mark public (a public profile, a public project, or a Discovery post) is visible to anyone who visits that public page, including people who aren't logged in.
7. Project collaboration
When you create or join a project, the project owner controls who is invited as a collaborator. Content shared inside a project (files, versions, tasks, approvals, chat) is visible to that project's members according to their role. Removing a collaborator from a project may not retroactively remove content they already contributed while they were a member. Each collaborator retains ownership of the specific content they individually contribute to a project — joining or being removed from a project doesn't transfer that ownership to the project owner or to other collaborators.
8. Third-party services
Collab Planet relies on trusted third-party infrastructure to operate, including database/authentication/storage providers, a hosting and delivery provider, a real-time audio/video provider for Project Room sessions, and an email/account-communications provider. Your use of these features is subject to this being how the product is built; see the Privacy Policy for how information flows to these providers.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, freeze, or terminate your account if we determine, in good faith, that you've violated these Terms, misused the beta, or attempted to compromise the security of the service. You may delete or freeze your own account at any time from Settings, as described in Section 4.
10. Disclaimers
The service, especially during beta, is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Collab Planet's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount, if any, you paid Collab Planet in the 12 months before the claim arose. Collab Planet is currently offered as a free closed beta, so this amount is $0 today — it would only change if paid features are introduced later.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Collab Planet will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to jurisdiction there.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product evolves, particularly as it moves from closed beta toward general availability. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
